  • Adhesives
  • Scissors/Paper Trimmer

Lets get started.

STEP 1

Open the ‘Card Template Front’ in Photoshop and make sure Layer 1 is highlighted in the Layers palette.

STEP 2

Open your three co-ordinating papers in Photoshop, duplicate them, and close the originals.

STEP 3

Choose two of the papers to be the cover of your card and resize them both to 2550x2550 pixels (8.5x8.5 inches).

STEP 4

Use your Move Tool to position the first paper over the first layer on your card template (see below):

STEP 5

Make a clipping mask of your first layer on your card template by pressing Ctrl+G. Merge it down by pressing Ctrl+E. Select your second layer on your card template to highlight the layer in your Layers palette.

STEP 6

Use your Move Tool again to drag your second paper over to the card template. Make a clipping mask of your second layer on your template by pressing Ctrl+G and merge this layer down by pressing Ctrl+E. Select your third layer on your card template to highlight the layer in your Layers palette.

STEP 7

Go back to your third co-ordinating paper you wish to use for the heart, and resize the paper to 900x900 pixels (3x3 inches). Use your Move Tool to drag your last paper over to the card template. Position it over the heart so the paper covers all of it and make a clipping mask by pressing Ctrl+G and merge it down by pressing Ctrl+E (see below):

STEP 8

Now for the back of your card. Open ‘Card Template Back’ in Photoshop. Use one of the papers you used for the front of the card. Resize the paper to 2550x2550 pixels (8.5x8.5 inches).

STEP 9

Use your Move Tool to position the paper over the layer on your card template. Make a clipping mask of your layer on your card template by pressing Ctrl+G. Merge it down by pressing Ctrl+E (see below):

STEP 10

Now the digital part of your card is finished, it’s time to print your finished templates out in Photoshop to keep all the right dimensions.

Time to assemble your card.

STEP 11

Cut the front and the back pieces of your card. Cut two pieces of cardstock and adhere your ribbons with glue. Add some tape to re-enforce the ribbons (see below):

STEP 12

Adhere your ribbons and your heart to the front panel of your printed card. Then adhere the front and back printed panels to your cardstock over your ribbons to hide them. Add any other embellishments that you would like. I have added some painted wooden craft letters and an old button.

Here’s my finished product:
