The picture of the girl was drawn by my niece Megan. It was the first drawing she made as an adult and she sketched it merely using colored pencils! Not pastels, not acrylics, oils or any other mediumwith just what she had on handcolored pencils! I was so proud of her first piece! Both my sisters and my youngest daughter, Jocelyn are very gifted artistically and Im amazed at the what they create! I am the appreciator! Everyone needs an art appreciator,right? LOL! Anywhooshe has gone on this year to bigger and better things and switched mediums, but I remain so amazed at her first. The blue pattern on the pink is supposed to be from India ink and if you know anything about that, its very jagged and not too uniform. I believe she achieved that. Then the fabric around her headsee how the stripes, vs and flowers come together in the fabric? Perfect! If you blow it upthe pattern on the orange fabric has tiny, delicate, doodle-type designs with the more vibrant flowers and hearts and lastly, the red cloth, the pattern is beautifully displayed across the folds. And her facethe soulful eyes seem alive with foreboding, a twinch of distrust and the tiniest glimmer of hope. Now how do people do this? Im in awe of how she captured so much emotion in the eyes alone. Meg (Megan) is my oldest niece and her photograph sits on the chair. Today is her birthday (February 2nd Groundhogs Day in the states! ) and shes expecting her first child. Sophia is due the 10th of February, but the doctor told her last Wednesday that she was dilated 2 cm. and 65% effaced, saying she would never make it to her due date. Each time the phone rings, I jump in anticipation, as my sister Carolyn has promised to call the second Megs goes into the hospital. This lo is done in honor of my little niece, my love for her, a little birthday present and my excitement over Sophias arrival.
