Friends (scraplifted layout)
The first digital scrapbooking kit that I bought was Dawn Inskip's Grace. I was still learning a lot about digital scrapbooking, so I decided to scraplift one of the preview examples for the kit (#14: Frozen). It would be more accurate to say I copied everything but the photos from Dawn Inskip's own layout called Frozen:

Trying to recreate the example really helped me learn a lot about how to create digital layers, as opposed to traditional paper layers. It was a great learning experience.

Journaling: Chris and I attended a class at Jerrys Artarama that was sponsored by Golden Artist Colors. Our instructor was Phil Garrett. It was a lecture format class, although I think Chris would have preferred a more hands-on approach where she could have played more with the paints. I learned that GAC100 can be used as a sealer, thinner, and extender -- and I wrote that directly on my bottle. I also learned that mineral pigments are more opaque while modern pigments are more transparent. Phil suggested using interference colors as glazes. And he suggested not using matte mediums until the very final layer of a painting.

Credits: Photos are mine. Font for journaling and date is Bradley Hand ITC. Everything else is from Grace by Dawn Inskip available here at Pickleberrypop:
