How is Bailey doing now? You've got so much to deal with right now. Bless your family. <3
Thx for asking. She is recovering quite well but the scary part is that the cause is not known, only that they were able to treat the symptoms which are clearing up. Her labs, arrhythmia, kidneys and liver numbers are getting under control. The neuro team yesterday said that this should never have happened, that the carehome was not treating her diabetes correctly (informed by the Ministry of Health on how to treat it as she is under the Ministry's guidance since she she is of legal age but can't make decisions b/c of the brain damage and my daughter doesn't have guardianship yet which she has been fighting for these last 3 yrs). It's a mess. Neuro said that her grossly mismanaged diabetes would have caused damage in all areas of the brain/body but to this extent, there is still something else but they haven't figured out what though.

So, for now, she is improving, my daughter finally got approval to manage her diabetic care with weekly reports from the carehome and then her guidance on a daily basis when needed if blood sugars continue to rise for long periods. We know with B's brain damage from the encephalitis that at any time her health can deteriorate but this is so frustrating and scary, never knowing what really is happening inside her.

We take each day as it comes and just try to give lots of love and laughter for her.

A relief to know that your daughter finally got approval to manage her diabetic care. It must be extremely frustrating for her not to be able to manage all levels of her care. I am glad she is improving and it is so upsetting to know that bad management has caused so much damage. Scary to know that the cause is unknown. Continuted prayers for Bailey and for you and your family.
