Do any of you do New Year's resolutions? or whatever you want to call them? I have had a hard time keeping any of mine :p I make the normal ones - be a better mom & wife, lose weight/smarter food choices, keep the house cleaner, etc etc etc. What can I say? I'm a lazy resolution maker. I know by the end of February I'll be over it all, lol.

That said.

So far this year...

I didn't beat my daughter when she accidentally dropped the F-Bomb in my presence today for the first time
(however, i *WAS* driving at the time, so who's to say i wouldn't have beaten her if i wasn't driving? she did apologize profusely, tho i'm still in shock.)

There are several spots on the floor that are cleaner than they were last week
(fiiiiiiiiiiiine. they are only cleaner because my dog is sick and she can't clean up after herself. stupid evolution and that whole ... dogs have no thumbs thing)

I'm 3 pounds lighter than what I was when I started the year (woohoo!)

On a more serious note. I'm learning something "new" ... and have figured out a way to follow through on it for a change. I've had the program for a while, but never learned more than using 1 tool LOL - you can find that journey here. There will be an update later this week ;)

So, what are you doing with your 2018? We got 365 brand new days this year and we've used up 9 of them so far!

PS. I don't really beat my children. I was joking. The youngest is 14, so I don't even spank anyone. That would be more than a little wierd :p

My goals for the year and not really large - lose some weight (whats new) and I am already down about 5 pounds. Eating better which I am not too sure how I am going to do that, we eat pretty good - so for me it just means eating less I think. Daily exercise doesn't have to be 10 minutes though I am trying the threadmill we were given at least 4 days a week for 25 minutes. Playing more with my Ipad to design and playing with more mixed media.

I had added keeping my house cleaner - since I am really a clean freak but you can not tell that anymore. So I will hire in I think 2 times a month.

Other than that I have smaller goals that I will make it through as the year progresses.

My goal this year - totally boring - yep, weight loss. I've gained every year since I retired from teaching (and chasing little kids around all day) 5+ years ago. This has to stop! I'm at my all-time highest, and most of my closet is collecting dust. Wish me luck.

I'm in the same boat as the rest of you. I lost a lot of weight a couple of years ago, but it's creeping back on. So, I'm determined to get back on track. I'm cutting carbs - sugar is my worst enemy. If I don't eat any, I'm fine...but one bite of a sweet, and it takes me two weeks to get back on track. I'm down 3 pounds since I started, but I'd be down more if I got off of my back side more often. I've been sitting at this computer way too much lately!

The computer is my downfall, too, as well as the car! You'd think as much time as I spend not at home, extra pounds would just shed off, but they don't because I'm basically chauffering 3 kids everywhere, every week. I pull up & stop long enough for them to jump in and away we go. I'm trying Burn this year, and that's helped - as long as I remember to take it :p

I did a water challenge a couple of years ago and lost almost 20 pounds........ anybody up for that? I did 80-100 ("fruit infused") ounces a day for a month....... might be a great way to kickstart some of these weight loss goals we all have :)

Lose weight? Yup! AGAIN! Shocking! This sitting at a desk all day has wreaked havoc!

I started the DIET BET thing and have lost 8 pounds so I'm on my way. I actually joined three diet bet groups at $30 each and as long as I lose 4% of my weight in a month, I get to "share the pot" with everyone else who hit the goal, and you know how many people don't stick to it, so at the very least, I get my money back, and at best I get to share the pools of money with other people who met their goal. Right now two of the pools are just over $200,000, and the third is over $500,000, so with any luck, I can earn some winnings, since I'm already almost at my goal!

I am having serious Rock Start withdrawals though!

Other than that, I am determined to do more actual artwork this year. I've acquired some new supplies in the last several months and am ready to break out the goods and play. Now if I can just get some quiet time without my toddler grandson, maybe I can get started.

Good luck to everyone who is dieting! YOU CAN DO IT! YOU'VE GOT THIS!!!!

I'd be up for that! But, I don't infuse :p Lol, I'm one of those weird people that likes just WATER, good old tap water. But, I'll admit that a lot of people can't have the same attitude because their tap water tastes terrible. Ours is fantastic. The first thing my son does when he comes home is get a drink of "good old Garland water". Lol, His water isn't terrible, but ours is just so much better :p

So, what else do you do besides drink a lot of water? I already drink quite a bit, but I'd have to bump it up to hit 100 oz :p

I’m right there with most of you with losing weight. My resolution is about working on me in general. So far I haven’t lost any weight but I am getting on the treadmill so that’s something. I’d also like to focus on using the art supplies I’ve accumulated.

Which Diet Bets did you join? I looked at a couple, but was looking at one that's $50 that includes some coaching. Lol, I might need that at this point :p

I think we all need to focus on ourselves. Lol, and using art supplies is a good thing. My goal during December was to watch every class I paid for. I DID IT...and this month I'm benefiting from that :)

I'm seriously considering juicing too. Regardless of what diet or healthy eating plan you're on, NO ONE ever gets enough veggies in a day. I've been reading up and apparently a cold press juicer is best, but they are pretty pricey. Have any of you ever gotten in to that?

I watched a documentary on Netflix called HUNGRY FOR CHANGE. It was super informative about healthy eating and lifestyle in general, including what we give our kids. It would be a great watch for anyone and I highly encourage doing so if you have Netflix.

Oh la la (French expression that seems to mean it is urgent to stop the massacre ladies!) no serious diet is paid or sells! the only one that will slim down is your door money! I lost 18 kilos (39.68lb) by eating everything and doing no sport and this weight remained stable for 4 years
I saw a dieteticiene, my problem I skipped meals too often, so my brain was sent to my body to store nutrients

she asked me to eat 4 times a day !
3 real complete meals and a snack in the afternoon like children
in each meal there must be a representative of each essential nutrient, the brain must not receive a message of carance
carbohydrate, lipid, sugar, protein in reasonable quantity but all present
eat at fixed times as often as possible, drink water! eat vegetables as often as possible for vitamins
do not wait too long if your body claims to eat 1 hour before everyone else does
do not eat after your last evening meal or then move your little snack at this time
do not deprive yourself, just spread the food on the 4 meals, the rule does not add the same nutrient foods
for example: you want fried potatoes at the evening meal,
the fries is: oil, feculent (potato)
in this case for this meal you can not eat bread or other feculent or butter or flour-based food, no dessert made from flour or oil!, no oil for cook the meat !

another example, if one morning you eat tosts with butter, you can put jam, but in this case at this meal you can not eat other sweet food or another food with flour, so no a lot of fruit and no cake!

it's up to you to compose your menus to keep moments of pleasure
of course dont eat fried potatos on the 4 meal a day !
after 3 weeks, or 1 month your brain starts to be reassured about the daily intake, so it will start to allow you to lose your reserves as you go to excercise!

my resolution, continue to thank life, enjoy life, with or without bourlet !

Great advice, Manuealla. These Diet Bets aren't really a method to lose weight, but a motivating factor. Lol, you join thinking you won't want to lose your money, so you'll stick to your eating plan. I've never joined any, but I did look at one just for kicks. When I lost all of my weight before, I ate several small meals each day, but kept the carbs VERY low, no sugar, but lots of vegies & a reasonable amount of protein. I'm not a huge fan of meat, so I'm fine with small portions of meat. I do think you have to teach your brain and your body...and every time I fall off of the wagon and eat sugar, I have to start all over again. UGH.

I took the Scrapaneers Live classes at Scrapaneers and then lots of classes at Creative Live - a class on Wacom Tablets, designing surface patterns, mixed media for digi scrappers, working with brushes in photoshop CC (my favorite of all of the classes) and drawing hacks in illustrator - I didn't get as much out of that one, but it was still interesting. I've also taken some marketing classes there and just bought one about Optimizing Your Online Store. I'll send you a referral to classes at Creative Live and they'll send you a coupon code for $15 in case you want to try one of them. I also check their ON AIR classes regularly. They're FREE the day they're ON AIR,and they're the full classes so definitely a great deal if you have the time to watch. Lol, I rarely do, but make an exception if it's a class I've really wanted to take but not pay for :) https://www.creativelive.com/onair?via=site-header_0 - Oh I also took a Paint In Photoshop class from Janaina Oliveira. I'll be honest, it was my least favorite. :)
