do you prefer? I am not into reading a lot, but since I've gotten an Ipad I do read more than I did before - I prefer non-fiction - real crime stories. I have downloaded lots of Ann Rule books.
What do you all like to read?

I love historical novels...I have so many favorite books (lol, yes, I love to read, but don't always take time for it!) Some of my favorites are:

Follow the River by James Alexander Thom,
Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follet
The Kite Runner & 1000 Glorious Suns by Khaled Hosseini - both were amazing books, but had violence in them. Amazing reads, though....I love learning about different cultures. I just downloaded his latest novel, And the Mountains Echoed...and will start reading that tonight!

I just finished reading The Book Thief (LOVED it), 12 Years a Slave (that was a difficult read...lots of long, run on sentences, and well...I hated the violence. But , it was an amazing story). Late last year, I read Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand - a WWII novel. Again, really graphic cruelty that was tough to read when they describe what happened in the POW camps, but it's an amazing story of triumph.

When I'm in the mood for some light reading...I pick up a Nicholas Sparks novel...I've read many of his, although he's probably written several new ones that I haven't kept up with.

I also just read Heaven is For Real....really interesting.

Lol, that was probably a lot more info than you asked for...but hey, I'm an avid reader!

I'd love to know some of your favorite books (and some favorites from the rest of the team!)

Oh, woe... it´s almost nothing serious in my bookcase. :-D I also like fantasty books, Sarah, but haven´t read anything written by Bernard Hennen or Deborah Harkness. Thanks for tips!
I love Terry Pratchetts books - (waiting for the translation the last one), fantastic Neil Gaiman, Sapkowski, John Moressy, Tolkien of course... I need to find some time to read George R.R. Martin.

From historical literature I like Barbara Erskine - but well, her books are a bit historical and maybe a bit ghost-stories, not too serious novels.

Detectives are also fine - just testing to read some stories by Lars Kepler and Jo Nesbo (but I´m not sure if I become a fan of this style).

Sarah, I love Terry Pratchett, too! :)

Lately, I prefer light reading to serious one. Like Janet Evanovich - I love her style, and I often find myself laugh out loud reading her novels.

my most favorite author is Stephen King.. I have about 50 of his books I guess (but I haven't read them all yet!). I've now been reading the Game of Throne series and I love it! I'm reading the last book right now..

Stephen King is one of the reasons that I'm terrified of clowns :p Thank you very much, Mr. King. Lol, even in our local parade & city celebration, I avoid the clowns, and I usually know who the person is behind the costume. I think he scarred me for life with that one *grin*

I'm a Stephen King fan, too! I also love Dean Koontz. Right now I am slugging my way through Allegiant by Veronica Roth. I do most of my reading in the summer when I have more time. During the school year, I just get little bits of time.

I am a total reading addict - real books and my ipad.

I read a lot for work as I read every book (the older fiction) before we put it in the school library so I can 'vet them' and check they are suitable.

I too loved 1000 Splendid Suns and Kite Runner but I didn't like The Book Thief.
I love Francine Rivers books and Jodi Picoult but I also like a good suspense thriller or courtroom drama. I will also read really rubbish chic lit like Sophie Kinsella etc.

I have to read a lot of teen fiction to check for school and confess to loving some of it like the Twilight Saga, The Gone series and Divergent

I will read anything - I am just an addict

I love Stephen King, too! and Dean Koontz. If you love both of them Dan Simmons is a good one. I listen to them on audiobooks while I design. I also love Diana Gabaldon. I am hooked on her Outlander series. I can't wait for the Starz series to come out!
