For the
4/21 Art of Memories Challenge, we were asked to play with negative space, by using a sketch and leaving lots of empty space so our layout could breathe. We were also asked to keep a dominant color throughout the layout (in my case, green), and to use only products by Simplette Scrap.
To create this layout, I started with a textured green paper from the Timeless Treasures Collection by Simplette Scrap (specifically the main papers). I placed my photo in the lower right corner and I used the shape of a green paint overlay to make the mask for the photo. The collection includes some rafia that's loosely arranged in a circle and I overlaid that on top.
Next, I added an overlay of an art nouveau girl in the background at reduced opacity. I added a lot of paint, splatters, and handwriting overlays, at different opacities. I added some painted leaves on top of the photo but under the rafia, at the upper left of the photo, that extend toward the center of the layout.
I added two ribbons and some string and wove them in and out of the rafia. I added tulips, and wove them in and out of the rafia, string, and ribbons. Then I added peonies, blue flowers, and daisies. Finally, I tucked leaves and greenery behind everything and added the title: Timeless Treasures.
