For the
4/10 Art of Memories Challenge, we were asked to create a balanced layout featuring one large photo and cluster in one corner, and a smaller cluster in the opposite corner, with or without a photo.
To create my layout, I started with a kit that has a variety of patterned papers, ribbons, flowers, and leaves, and I picked Fayette Designs' It's Not Complicated Bundle. I started with an artsy paper as the background. I brought in my two photos and I used two of the collection's "lifted frames" for them. I played around a bit with their sizes and placement until I liked the arrangement.
Next, I created shapes to use as layer masks and layered patterned papers underneath both frames, including circles and paper strips. I wove a curly ribbon through and around the larger frame and a gingham ribbon on the smaller one. And I added a background fancy featuring hearts at reduced opacity in the lower left corner.
For the title, "it's complicated," I used two different wordart pieces and masked them. I added some journaling: "sweet innocence" for the wide-eyed cat and "cattitude" for the smaller cat.
Then I spent some time building a cluster out of 12 different elements for the larger cat. Clusters don't come easily to me, so I'm super pleased with how this one turned out. I used the same cluster, flipped horizontally and at reduced scale for the other cat, for balance. Finally, I added the three felt hearts near the cattitude photo.
