COVID sadness for family

I haven't been online as much this wk, trying to process and accept the loss of one of our best friends who became my oldest daughter's FIL when she married his son. He was one of the unfortunately ones who got hit fast and hard in the middle of November and had been hospitalized within 3 days. He was ventilated/intubated a few days after that and never regained consciousness. He passed away on Monday. It's been a rough week for the family. We can't see or hug them and talking on the phone is all we can do. I've been trying to carry on but am thankful this wk is over and maybe next week will be easier. It's a loss we never thought would happen. He was a fit, active, healthy man and then he wasn't. All of us who have recovered or remained healthy during this pandemic, be thankful, be grateful.

I hope to find some scrappy time to take my mind off everything and have been out in the yard photographing the birds/squirrels as that is my other passion, my other de-stressor.

Thx everyone for all your prayers and kind words. The family is coming to terms with it all and when possible, whenever COVID is under better control and we can have a gathering, there will be a celebration of life for him.

I'm so sorry to hear this Rae. It seems so unfair, doesn't it? I am very grateful that we got it and were basically a-symptomatic. It almost makes me feel guilty that we had it so easy while others have experienced so much illness and loss. I pray your family is surrounded with love and comfort through the difficult time.
