I have struggled with sleep for years - and the older I get the worse it is. (This is something my mom struggled with - and my sisters do too). Often times it takes nearly 3 hours for me to fall asleep and I wake up within 60 or 90 minutes of (finally) falling asleep - and the cycle starts again. It is dreadful. Last year I talked to my physician about it and I was given some pretty strong sleeping meds. I now am able to fall asleep within 20 minutes of laying down and usually wake up one time and fall right back asleep - I haven't slept this good in years. I am not sure how long I will be able to stay on the meds as they are habit forming, but the difference in how I feel now that I get a good nights rest is amazing.
Does anyone else here in our little PBP family struggle with sleep?

Gosh, I know many people who have the same struggles as you do Jill, and with the samequestions as you about the habit forming... The one girl I know uses it only when her limits are really achieved...
Personnaly, I have no sleeping troubles, I could sleep anywhere at anytime. I even have trouble to stay awake in the car as soon as we hit the highway.... Luckily, my hubby likes to drive.
But, when i am having some things going on, especially work, I sleep not that well, that's also true. I am asleep, but still thinking ot things and I am aware of it. Really gr....

Anayways, I wish you the best of luck with the meds and some good nightsleep!

Years ago I could sleep in the car with no problems, but the past few years I can't even do that. My hubby, is like you Sarah - he can sleep anytime - anywhere ... LOL. He is especially fond of his big recliner in front of the TV! LOL

My issues with sleep come and go, but it's mostly been an age/peri-menopause thing. Usually I can go to sleep fairly well, but if I wake up during the night it takes me forever to get back to sleep! Glad you are able to sleep well now and hope that you are able to find something that helps you with it long term!

I think a lot of us have sleep issues, Jill. My issue is that I just don't sleep enough. When I go to bed, I fall right to sleep, but after 4-5 hours, I wake up and think I've been in bed long enough. I have been that way as long as I can remember. I can fall asleep in the car, too, although I'm very self conscious about that coz I know my jaw relaxes and my mouth drops open *sigh* My kids think it's hilarious :p

Some days when I wake up after not sleeping enough, I just turn on the news or read a book for a few minutes, and I doze back off. Unfortunately, after I wake up the first time, I rarely get back to a deep sleep. I used to wake up perky, ready to tackle the day, but the older I get, I notice that I wake up tired more often than not. Seriously irritating.

I actually forced myself to sleep/stay in bed for 8 hours last night - lol, I needed to recover from the weekend of having grandkids think they needed to sleep with Grandma and Opa. It actually felt good to sleep/rest that long...I should probably do it more often *grin*

I sleep poorly - always have.
As a child I used to only sleep for four or five hours - drove my parents nuts.

Now I take a while to go to sleep but - being of a certain age - it is the endless hot flushes that wake me over and over and over.
Oyr bedroom is glacial. I am suprised poor Nij doesn't get frostbite

Well I too have sleeping issues and have since I was a child as I got older it has gotten worse. I do take a pill to sleep every night and have for about 10 years, yes they are habit forming but it is better than being crazy after not sleeping for days on end.
