I'm a huge fantasy nut. So, at the moment, I'm re-reading The Wheel of Time Series, by Robert Jordan, although Brandon Sanderson had to finish the series when Jordan passed away before he was able to finish it (fortunately he left notes on what he had planned, and Sanderson is a very talented writer in his own right). I'm on the penultimate book in the series at the moment.
I also enjoy historical fiction and some science fiction. Plus some non-fiction (nutrition books, being a dietitian; science books; some history).
As for audiobooks, I was never able to get into them until I suffered a concussion and couldn't read for several months while my brain healed (I had to stay off the computer during that time as well - not fun). About the only two things that didn't cause symptoms were: 1. listening to audiobooks, and 2. crocheting. So when I suffered my concussion, I fell in love with audiobooks for the first time ever, and rediscovered my love of crocheting (which my maternal grandmother had taught me back when I was young, so I could get my knit/crochet badge in Girl Guides!) I still enjoy listening to audiobooks today, especially before bed. I find putting one on as I'm lying in bed, trying to fall asleep (with a timer on), on my iPad, allows me to fall asleep easily. Other people find listening to books gets them too "worked up" before bed, but for me, it allows me to just focus on the story, and my mind drifts off to sleep when it's ready.
I am a voracious reader, though, and my husband and I, although we purged our book collections back in 2010, need to purge them again. We love books and reading, and although we do have library memberships, there are still some books that we just have to buy. So they tend to accumulate. Since we get posted (and have to move) ever 3-4 years, that becomes an issue. So, it's time for another purge again! There are some authors' books that I will never get rid of, as I constantly re-read them, such as L.E. Modesitt Jr., Robert Jordan, Brandon Sanderson, JRR Tolkien, Isaac Asimov, George RR Martin, Diana Gabaldon, Jack Whyte, Neil Gaiman, and a bunch of others, as I've re-read their books numerous times.
